Governance

There are many different types of public libraries in New York State. Dunham Public Library was established as a school district public library under Education Law §255.1. The chartered geographic service area is co-terminus with the boundaries of the Whitesboro Central School District and its support derives primarily from direct taxation of the residents of the Library District.   Here is a link to a map of the Dunham Public Library library district.

The Board of Trustees is elected by direct vote of the registered voters in the district and the proceedings are subject to all Open Meeting and Government Transparency laws, including Freedom of Information Laws.
